This works, I quit…

There is a phenomenon that I’ve recently become aware of that I am trying to wrap my brain around. I don’t understand it because it is counterproductive and just simply WEIRD!!!!

As you know, I am a promoter of the Body by Vi™ Challenge, which is the #1 fitness and weight-loss platform in North America. We help people reach their fitness goals by introducing them to a lifestyle change via a meal replacement shake. The thing that’s cool about this program is that the shake tastes great, it’s affordable and it truly works!!

Enough of the commercial but here’s the meat… In introducing the Challenge to people, I’ve noticed that there are people who have immediate results right out of the gate. My cousin’s daughter took 2 shakes a day for 2 days and lost 3 pounds. She stopped drinking the shakes. One person started with 2 shakes a day, felt an immediate boost in her energy levels and lost 4 pounds in about 10 days. She stopped drinking the shakes. Another person drank 2 shakes a day for 6 days, lost 6 pounds and 4 inches. She stopped drinking the shakes a few days later. Yet, another person started giving the shakes to her son, he lost about 10 pounds in 2 weeks and she stopped the shakes…

I don’t get it. If the product is working as advertised then why are you not continuing with the product? When my cousin’s daughter stopped drinking her shakes, my first thought was, “She is young and just wants to be fat.” I know that, in some circles, it is cool to have a certain amount of weight, or “jelly”, and losing that would be ‘bad’. Okay… I see it but that doesn’t mean I understand it.

I have a friend who is African. No, a real African from Ghana… She and I were speaking to this African community leader about the Challenge. The funny thing is that, as long as we were talking about men losing weight and getting fit, he was fine. But, when we started talking about the African women losing weight, I saw and felt and immediate barrier go up. He didn’t even like that thought and actually told us that the women were fine like they were. I was blown away.

The reality is that as a man, we all have an appreciation of the female body. Some men are more into breasts, whereas other are more into hips and, still others are more into how the full package is put together. I get that. What I don’t get is this… When does our appreciation for something block our rationale for healthy living? It’s not cool to me or a women to have a voluptuous figure with everything put in place ‘just right’ but, her healthy is unfavorable because of her weight. That’s not cool!!! Men, we need to check ourselves!!! You may be enjoying her ‘badonkadonk’ now but what about the future? What’s MORE important?

Women… You aren’t safe in this letter. I’m not going to just beat up on the guys. If you notice in my examples, ALL of those that started the program, started getting results, and quit, were women!!! What is really wrong? I can’t even begin to understand the mind of a woman. I’ve been married for 17 years and I’m surprised almost everyday by my wife. So, I won’t go there. But, I will address this. When you started this program a week or two weeks ago, why did you do it? What was that goal that you set in your HEART to reach? I know that you told us that you wanted to do XYZ but what was that internal motivation that told you to pull out that credit card and make this move?

What I think happens is that we get excited over the thought of reaching a ‘dream’ but we get scared when we are finally start moving towards it. It’s fear. Maybe it’s fear of the unknown or fear of meeting that dream and failing later on? I don’t know… YOU have the power to CHANGE!!! YOU have the power over your own DESTINY!!!

Finally, after staying connected to your heart’s goals, we must move with purpose and passion. I was talking with a minister last night and she was telling me how she started the plan so she could lose weight. But, the reason that she wanted to lose weight was so she could get off of her medications. THAT, my friend, is PURPOSE!!! Getting rid of meds is something real and tangible!!! Every time you take another pill, think about this being the last pill that I’m going to take!!! So, when you are making that decision between making your shake versus going to McDonald’s, think about that ‘last pill’!!!

Your purpose will bring you passion! Don’t allow success to hinder your success!!! Don’t allow perceived social acceptances to dissuade you from accomplishing your goals!! Don’t allow your own pride to stop you from making that first step and starting in the first place!!! I know you have goals. You know you have goals… If I can help you reach your goals, then quit trippin’!!!!

Let’s get this thing done, together!!!!

I love you ALL!!!
Stay Blessed,
Jackie

They are trying to kill us and we are helping them!!!

By no means am I the expert on the subject of Health and Wellness or Diet and Nutrition. But, one thing that I do know is this… when everything was put here for us, God said it was good. People have been eating as long as there have been people.

Did you realize that we (people) are the only creatures on earth that eat because we WANT to and that every other creature eats because they NEED to. This insatiable desire for food has driven food producers to become creative in its methods for getting that food to our tables. One of the most controversial methods is GMO.

What is GMO? According to Wikipedia…

A genetically modified organism (GMO) is an organism whose genetic material has been altered using genetic engineering techniques. Organisms that have been genetically modified include micro-organisms such as bacteria and yeast, insects, plants, fish, and mammals. GMOs are the source of genetically modified foods, and are also widely used in scientific research and to produce goods other than food.

In regular guy terms, GMO represents a science project… man-made food. They are genetically making corn, soy, sugar beets, cotton and many other products.

There are many problems with GMO. One of the biggest issues is that has been linked to CANCER. The second greatest issue is that THEY don’t want YOU to know what products have GMO in it. This goes back into my letter from yesterday. We need to read the labels on what we are buying!!! But, my follow-up question is this… Who is THEY?

Before I tell you who THEY is, can I tell where GMO came from? GMO came from a combined effort from our food growers and the companies that provide pesticides. The problems that growers face like bugs, weather and things like that were affecting their crop yields. Lower yields means less food which translates into higher prices. So, in order to keep the prices lower the pesticide companies created corn with the pesticide… INSIDE the corn!!! Then they turn around and spray pesticides on the crops as they grow to protect it from the OUTSIDE!!! Who wins? The pesticide companies… Who is THEY? The Pesticide companies, the growers AND our GOVERNMENT!!! Yes, I said it and I’ll say it again!!!! AND OUR GOVERNMENT!!!!

I am not going to go on a conspiracy theory rant but I’ll just ask a question or two. Who regulates what food gets produced in America? Who verifies that the food is safe for consumption and puts their stamp of approval on it? Who promotes dietary recommendations not only healthcare providers but every citizen including children? Who receives major funding from the pesticide companies and growers? The answer in every question is the United States Government.

Oh, I almost forgot the grand-daddy of them all… Who has positioned themselves to take over one of the few healthcare systems in the world that works?

There are 6 major pesticide makers. They are BASF, Bayer, Dow, Dupont, Monsanto, and Syngenta. The largest being Dupont and Monsanto. Here’s a quote from the Grist, “…all of the Big 6 either produce GMO seeds themselves, or pesticides that work in concert with the seeds, so they have the biggest vested interest in seeing GMO proliferation fly under the radar of most Americans.”

I don’t know if you have paid any attention to California and Proposition 37, which would have mandated labeling of genetically modified foods. Prop 37 did not pass but it was very close. Some companies that did NOT want Prop 37 to pass and financially supported their position will surprise many. And they include… Ocean Spray Cranberries, Hormel, J.M. Smucker, Hershey, Kellogg, Coca-Cola, Nestle and PepsiCo. This by no means is the full list but just some names that WE ALL have in our cupboards right now!!!

Now, that I’ve spoken about the problem. How do we fix it?

(1) Education is the key. Don’t take my word on anything that I’ve written. Look it up for yourself. How much is YOUR health worth to you? Take the time and learn about what you are putting inside your body. After we become educated then we need to take action.
(2) Read those labels. Look for things like high-fructose corn syrup, soy lechitin, etc. You will be shocked to find out where these products show up. They are everywhere!!! Even in a bunch of “healthy food brands” like Kashi, Gardenburger and Silk!
(3) Let these companies know that we won’t continue to support products that are KNOWN to kill us. The idea of a protest is enough to move these companies to change. A great example is where McDonald’s made 3 phone calls to major french fry producers to stop biotech potatoes in the US and Canada. McDonald’s did want their name damaged. So, they made a stand.

We carry more power than we know. We don’t have to just accept unhealthy diets filled with unhealthy food leading to obesity, sickness and death. I want you to live your FULL days!!! We can change the world!!!

I love you ALL!!!
Stay blessed,
Jackie

Fun Facts:
Looking at life expectancy, from the Neanderthals thru the Bronze Age thru the Middle Ages (some 50,000 years)… the average life expectancy for the average person that lived past 3 years old was about 45 years. In the Middle Ages, if you were a part of the royal house then you could expect to live up to 48 or 51 years, respectively. Between 1600 – 1900, the average royal life expectancy rose to an average of 62 years. From 1900-2001, the average life expectancy rose in America from 54 to 82 years old. The primary reason that I put this information in is so that we can see how blessed we truly are… to live as long as we do.

The primary reason that we live longer lives is because of advancements in medical treatment and healthcare. Quite honestly, the doctors of today have great tools at their disposal and they have had thousands of years of practice :-) Thank God for Doctors!!!
