Life is chock full of ups and downs, ins and outs, and topsy-turvy moments. The part that we tend to overlook is that God prepares us for EVERY one of these life events.
A friend of mine was recently sharing about how they experienced a serious disappointment and how that particular matter had great consequence into their life. But, as we spoke, they realized that God had been preparing them for this brief season that they were going thru.
You see, God was setting them up. For the past month, during their personal devotion and bible studies, God had them deep in Job. Every time they opened their bible, they ALWAYS ended up in the Book of Job. They read it so much that at one point they thought, “Is this me?”
Guess what? Job dealt with a great many disappointments but, his faith in God was unwavering. My friend realized that they were in the midst of a Job experience. So, when the disappointments occurred, they were upset but, their faith wasn’t shaken because God had already shown them the end of the story.
Check this out!! Even though Job experienced loss of finances, friendships, and family… He never lost his faith. His faith is what carried him thru and helped him into his GREATER!! He lost lost sight of God. He never took his focus off of the sovereign God. He never blinked.
Now being human, Job did pitch a fit, had a tantrum, and had a heart-to-heart with the Almighty. But, he never blasphemed God. He never blamed God. And you know what, sometimes we need to have those moments. We need to ask God the “What’s up?” questions. What’s up with this? What’s up with that? What’s the purpose of all of this? And when we ask, we need to be prepared for the response.
The response is, “This is ONLY a season”. Why? Because, Job’s story didn’t end with his losses. It ended when God restored Job with GREATER!!
The funny thing about my conversation with my friend is that they read the ending of Job’s story the same day that they began to experience their own Job-ness. The SAME DAY!!!! God lead them thru Job and finished the story before releasing THEIR story. He prepared them to deal with the mess but He showed them the ending BEFORE their beginning.
I was so blessed by their story that I had to share it. I don’t know who this letter is written for but, I pray that you walk in the overcoming power of our Sovereign God, the King of kings, the Lord of lords, the Alpha and the Omega, the omnipotent, omniscient, omnipresent, the King of Glory. I pray that you be not weary in your well-doing, for in due season you WILL reap if you don’t faint. I pray that you guard your heart from the fiery darts of the enemy. I pray that your angels be encamped around you. I pray that this season is brief and that God’s purpose and will for your life be revealed and fulfilled. In Jesus’ name… Amen
